Job Summary
- Responsible for plans, coordinated and manages our pharmacy operations to control costs, maintain projected margins, meet and/or exceed sales goals, provide pleasant, courteous experience for the patient and positive working environment for workplace members.
Primary Responsibilities
- Compound and administer prescriptions in adherence to the latest medical and safety requirements.
- Update and maintain patient and medication database as needed.
- Recommend medication, both prescription and over the counter, to patients and customers according to their health conditions, health goals, and personal budgets.
- Provide and maintain an optimal level of customer service.
- Prepares medications by reviewing and interpreting physician orders; detecting therapeutic incompatibilities.
- Completes pharmacy operational requirements by organizing and directing technicians’ work flow; verifying order entries, charges, and inspections.
- Provides pharmacological information by answering questions and requests of health care professionals; counseling patients on drug therapies.
- Monitor and adjust department purchasing for inventory control, inventory turns, and operational efficiency.
- Complies with state and federal drug laws as regulated by the state board of pharmacy, the drug enforcement administration; maintaining records for controlled substances; supervising the work results of support personnel; advising management on needed actions.
- Monitor industry, regulatory and compliance industry, regulatory and compliance developments (e.g., state Board of Pharmacy, DEA, FDA, etc.) for pending regulatory changes and partner with Division Compliance Officer and pharmacy management to address them.
- Implement policies and procedures for the procurement, storage, security, and disposition of drugs and devices.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Pharm. D. degree, Active Registered Pharmacist (RPh) License in Louisiana, Up-to-date knowledge of pharmaceutical technology and databases, at least two (2) Years of Related Pharmacy Management Experience, Knowledge of State and Federal Laws and Regulations Pertaining to the Legal Operation of a Pharmacy.
