Position Purpose: To actively coordinate, on a day-to-day basis, the provision of high quality, comprehensive pharmaceutical care to the patients of Panola Medical Center (PMC) in compliance with federal and state legal/regulatory, accreditation, and professional standards.  This includes:  (1) involvement with multiple drug distribution functions (inclusive of computerized order entry and/or prospective review and verification of physicians’ orders, IV admixture preparation, etc.);  (2) defined clinical/cognitive activities to optimize therapeutic outcomes under the aegis of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee directives (which include active communication with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare staff about the need to clarify and/or change an order along with documentation of intervention outcomes); (3) educational activities with pharmacist colleagues and other health care professionals (e.g., physicians, nurses, etc.) to maintain and advance clinical competency relating to drug  therapy; and, (4) “supervisory” functions which provide professional oversight and direction of technicians’ drug preparation and distribution activities to assure safe and expedient provision of pharmaceutical care to PMC patients and staff. 

Position Qualifications

Education:  Graduate of an ACPE accredited School of Pharmacy with a  Pharmacy degree (e.g. PharmD). PharmD preferred. 

Licenses/Certificates:    Pharmacist licensure in MS or eligibility for licensure via examination or reciprocity. BLS certified (obtained within one year of hire date).  ACLS preferred (Prefer FT or PT to obtain within one year of hire date).

Required Skills:                                                                                                                                                                                               

 Computer:  Input data into computer programs. Able to navigate through computer programs such as Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook; ability's to learn and execute pharmacy order entry computer program.  Effectively able to use computers to increase efficiency in performing practice responsibilies.                                                                                                                                                                                                               

  Communication:  Oral/Written communication skills, telephone skills.  Effective, professional, and positive communication skills (active listening & negotiating skills); clear, concise, and correct written and verbal communication.                                                                                                                                                                   

 Miscellaneous Interpersonal: Possess time management, problem solving, organization and coordination.  Analytical, organized, critical thinking and common sense.  Hardworking, dependable, follow through, quality focus, team oriented.  Interpersonal skills necessary  to allow for effective working relationships.                                                                                                                                                                                     

Professionalism: conduct, dress, language, and manner expected.
