POSITION SUMMARY:

The Personal Trainer position supports the work of the YMCA of Collier County, Inc., a leading not-for-profit organization committed to strengthening the communities in Collier County through its core focus areas of Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility.  The Personal Trainer works with the Healthy Living Director to promote member engagement, conduct personal training sessions as required, and assist in promoting wellness within the Y.  Provide excellent customer service to members in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that promotes member wellness and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide proper exercise instruction based on the type of training requested and required by the member.

  • Be accountable for all facets of the client(s) needs while inside the Y.

  • Be knowledgeable about each piece of equipment we have at the Y, and the risks and benefits of each piece.

  • Effectively implement an exercise program that is achievable yet challenging for each client.

  • Respond to client’s need to continue engagement both at the Y and within individual sessions.

  • Provides hands on- wellness services including orientation, fitness assessments, post-rehabilitation and adaptive wellness.

  • Promote and sell personal training programs and services while achieving monthly revenue and session goals.

  • Contributes to branch member retention rate.

  • Improves member safety and enjoyment; encourages member interaction.

  • Continue to promote other activities within the Y that would benefit the client’s overall health and wellness.

  • Continue education as required to maintain personal training certification.

  • Ensures the cleanliness of facilities and equipment.

  • Follow fitness floor expectations when not scheduled for personal training, group training or performing a wellness consultation.

  • Communicate with fitness staff, members, Director of Healthy Living, and all departments as needed for professional and client development.

  • Demonstrate ability to relate to, and work with, people of diverse backgrounds.

  • Demonstrate ability to work cooperatively with professional staff and other departments as needed.

  • Respond to and report and document any incidents or accidents.

  • Always be appropriately attired wearing a professional YMCA Personal Trainer shirt as provided by Human Resources. Athletic style bottoms and athletic shoes are required.
