MacCosham has been providing rail yard terminal services for over 50 years and is experienced in the management of a variety of yard configurations. In addition to our rail intermodal terminal services, including lift-on/lift-off of containers and hostler services, we also operate several container and chassis repair depots associated with rail yard terminal services, with a full range of mechanical, welding, and associated repair services.
Summary:
This position would be ideal for a University Student with an interest in supply chain or transportation.
Assist machine and vehicle operators in the recording, maintenance, and transport of inventory. Assist in ensuring safety, cleanliness, and care of the Yard. Acting as a utility role to accomplish tasks that machine, and vehicle operators are unable to do.
Responsibilities:
The primary responsibility for this Part Time position will be conducting a complete yard inventory check each weekend excluding statutory holidays
Accurately reporting fuel records and temperatures
Perform inventory checks. Update lifts and inventory in specialized software (Oasis)
Complete and document pre-trip analysis of yard equipment using tablets
Inspect all equipment interchanged at Terminal for damages/defects
Ensure that containers are prepared for either delivery or receipt by rail or ground transportation
Installing and removing IBCs (inter box connectors) from railcar, unlocking/locking containers
Driving service vehicles in tight areas
Update and maintain accurate fuel records of company fleets
Performing physical duties relevant to job requirements (standing/bending/lifting on railcars
Ability to understand and follow all safety procedures and regulations
Apply, remove and assist with the identification of Blue Signal and derail track protection
Ensure all equipment is maintained, cleanly, and keep an organized work environment
Carry out all reasonable additional tasks as required
Qualifications:
· Previous experience working around heavy equipment preferred
· Must have a valid Class 5 Drivers License
· Must be able to work on a rotating 2-week, 12-hour shift schedule
· Must be comfortable working outdoors in all elements
· Able to communicate clearly, in English, over the radio
· Able to demonstrate safe and efficient workplace practices
· Ability to work within a team environment to meet tight deadlines
· Must possess steel-toe boots with a 8 rise
· Must be able to pass a company paid pre-employment screening test and background check as this is a safety sensitive position.
