ABOUT THE POSITION
As a member of the counselling team at Family Services Ottawa (FSO) and under the supervision of the Clinical Manager, the Counsellor will be responsible for providing direct counselling services to a broad range of clients across FSO counselling programs, participating in clinical supervision and consultation and any additional duties as required. This Counsellor position provides counselling services for clients with mild to moderate and/or severe and persistent mental health challenges. The primary client population will be children, youth, and families (including parents) or couples. This position is for 21 hours per week and includes at least one evening per week.
ABOUT YOU
You have completed a Master’s in Social Work (M.S.W.), Education in Counselling, Psychotherapy, or an equivalent degree. You are a member in good standing with a regulatory college (OCSWSSW, CRPO) and have maintained the right to practice the controlled act of psychotherapy within the province of Ontario. You have excellent oral and written communication skills. The ideal candidate will be able to offer counselling in both English and a second language. You have (2) two years of related counselling experience working with individuals, and couples. Your experience includes working with diverse populations with mental health challenges that have experienced trauma. Candidate must possess clinical training and/or demonstrated skills and experience in Couples/Relationship Counselling or Family Therapy (specializing in Child-parent relationships from an attachment-based framework). Experience with Divorce, Separation, and Co-parenting preferred. Previous experience with Play Therapy and expressive Arts Therapy would be an asset.
