Reports to: Senior Director, People & Culture
Location: Head Office, 1220 Stellar Drive, Newmarket (some remote work available)
Position Type: Part-time, 21 hours per week (schedule TBD, however flexible between
8:30 am- 4:30 pm)
Current Status: Vacant
Compensation: $60,000 - $64,000 per year (pro-rated to hours of work + 4% vacation pay)

Social Enterprise for Canada (SEC) is a charitable organization started in 1989 and serving York Region, Peel Region and Simcoe County. SEC seeks, secures and delivers a range of public services dedicated to creating communities that exemplify Canadian values of respect, inclusion, diversity, equity and sustainability.
SEC maintains its head office in Newmarket and provides public service signature expertise for immigrants, newcomers, early learning and development, Family Justice Service, Career and Labour market integration through programs such as Supervised Access, EarlyOn Child & Family Centres, Welcome Centre for Immigrant Services-Newmarket and several Before & After School and Licensed Childcare Programs.
The Opportunity
Partnering with the Senior Director, People & Culture, the People & Culture Generalist will execute a full spectrum of HR strategies and programs enabling SEC to achieve its goals. This role will be critical to the oversight of key areas of work including, new initiatives, people support programs, HRIS administration, onboarding/orientation, records management, benefits administration and full cycle recruitment. The ideal candidate is an experienced Generalist with a passion for building great teams, streamlining HR operations and creating an inclusive culture that champions an exceptional employee experience at every stage of the employee lifecycle.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Support the Senior Director in centralized People & Culture functions for all programs and departments, integrating best practices and adhering to all relevant legislation and regulations.
- Partner with hiring managers on recruitment and staffing needs. Lead the full cycle recruitment process.
- Manage and facilitate people onboarding and orientation.
- Support the Director in the development and implementation of new People & Culture initiatives, projects and training and education sessions.
- Oversee employee data and records in our HRIS which includes processing new hires, internal moves and exits, etc.
- Act as a trusted first-point of contact for people inquiries related to policies, processes and general HR topics.
- Participate in the Health & Safety Committee and partner with committee co-chairs to ensure compliance.
- Support and facilitate the employee engagement survey process and track relevant items and projects forthcoming.
- Track and report on HR metrics (attendance, leaves, time to hire, headcount, etc.).
- Research and recommend HR best practices to support strategic people initiatives.
- Support the Senior Director in the roll out and administration of the new performance management system.
- Champion programs promoting engagement, wellness and SEC values.
What you bring:
- 3-5 years experience in a Generalist or related role.
- Post secondary education in Human Resources Administration or /Management.
- Strong demonstration of HR fundamentals and working knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations.
- Experience with HRIS management.
- Excellent interpersonal, relationship building, coaching, organization, written and oral communication skills.
- Strong technical skills, including Office 365, and interest and aptitude to learn new programs.
- High level of sound judgement, integrity, confidentially, and accountability.
- Strong research skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to supporting a diverse, equitable and inclusive professional environment.
- Ability to demonstrate flexibility, initiative and good judgement.
- HR data analysis experience is an asset.
- HR Designation is an asset.
