Position Summary: 

At Thrive Behavioral Health Center, we deliver industry leading peer support for those suffering from Mental Health and/or Substance Use Disorders. We are proud to set the industry standard and continue our growth. A Peer Supporter is a trained individual who has lived experience with addiction to alcohol and/or drugs who provides one-to-one strengths-based support to peers in recovery, empowering them to make healthier choices on a day to day basis. Under the State Opioid Response Innovation Grant, Peer Supporters will be responsible for introducing an innovative application to partner agencies in rural areas and setting up individuals on the application. Partner agencies may include treatment providers and sober living homes, among others. Peer Supporters will provide in-person onboarding at each location several times before offering a train-the-trainer model to providers. In addition to supporting the innovative application, Peer Supporters will also offer peer support services both in person and via telehealth by leveraging features within the application, such as integrated video calling and secure messaging functionality. The Peer Supporter will be an accountability partner to promote recovery by engaging in a personal and positive, supportive relationship, demonstrating and inspiring hope, trust, and a positive outlook and optimize client connection with a broad range of community based services and natural supports. Must reside in designated counties of Lucas,Adams,Lawrence or ,Scioto.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

â— Develop expertise in the basic set up and onboarding of the evidence-based Connections application

â— Visit partner agencies to introduce the application and connect with individuals with in-person and remote Peer

    Support opportunities

â— Utilize features of the application, including integrated video calling and secure messaging, to support clients in 

   rural locations with Peer Support services and recovery support

â— Through identifying as a person in recovery and intentionally sharing their recovery story; use this as appropriate    

   means to assist clients, provide hope, and help in changing patterns and behaviors 

â— Help peers understand recovery, as well as identify and achieve their own recovery needs, wants and goals 

â— Provide information and opportunities for individuals to direct their own recovery and advocacy processes - individualized recovery action plans will be utilized to assist and guide individuals toward their own personal goals 

â— Assist clients in finding resources for harm reduction, detoxification treatment, family support, and support groups 

â— Teach and support acquisition and utilization of skills needed to sustain recovery from substance use 

â— Responsible for maintaining accurate records and notes, confidentiality, and compiling timely reports 

â— Maintain records and provide assistance with appropriate documentation in files and computer database 

â— Achieve all performance goals in regards to client outreach, engagement and services provided 

â— Enter all peer notes in an accurate and timely manner including phone notes 

â— Provide recovery resources to individuals and their family members 

â— Advocate for the needs of each individual 

â— Complete caseload management including all necessary documentation 

â— Communicate with healthcare staff to build a rapport and coordinate care 

â— Other duties as assigned 


Requirements: 

â— Strong technology skills

â— Identify as a person in recovery with at least two years of successful recovery 

â— Working knowledge of different pathways to recovery and social systems including evidence based practices 

â— Understands problems analysis, decision-analysis, evaluate interventions, and contingency plans 

â— Ability to be an active listener by asking questions and reflecting on what is being said

â— Knowledge of area resources that may aid client in continuous recovery (i.e. transportation, treatment providers, sober support systems) 

â— Proficient level of ability with computer; Microsoft Office Products 

â— Effective written and oral communication skills; ability to articulate information clearly 

◠Valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance


Preferred Qualifications: 

â— Experience implementing telehealth services with clients

â— Experience in peer recovery services, social service, customer service or non-profit environment 

â— Experience with electronic health records or other industry related types of applications and software 

â— Certified Peer Supporter or Care Management Specialist in the state of Ohio


Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent
