Title:                           Coordinator, Peer Support Workers
Position Status:       Full-time, 37.5 hours per week.
Reports to:                Senior Manager - MHSU
Compensation:       $33.99 – $35.58

Job Summary

The Peer Support Worker Coordinator is responsible for providing leadership to the Peer Support team that assists Phoenix’s bed-based recovery programs. This role works closely with the Mental Health and Substance Use team to coordinate service to treatment clients as well as other programs as required. 

Program Management

·       Ensures that Peer Support Workers effectively participate in meeting client needs and implementing client-facing programs.

·       Ensures program development, ongoing training and support is provided to the Peer Support Worker team.

·       Develops strategies and action plans to implement programs and supportive interventions to improve client outcomes.

·       Assists manager with program budget duties such as developing budget submissions, preparing, and presenting budget justifications and presentations, monitoring expenditures, following up on anomalies, and taking action to resolve challenges.

·       Supports manager in identifying trends, needs, and priority issues that impact the department, organization framework and strategic plans.

·       Participates in funder meetings and community stakeholder committees as directed by manager.

Human Resources

·       Carries out administrative and financial tasks such as petty cash, performing general timekeeping functions such as tracking hours worked, reviewing timesheets for accuracy and other duties related to the operation of the Peer Support Program.

·       Attends panel interviews, providing recommendations on the selection of new staff.

·       Determines training and orientation requirements

·       Assigns and adjusts workload and schedules, and coordinates staff when coverage is needed ensuring service levels and staffing requirements are met

 

Qualifications

·       Post-secondary diploma in social work, community services, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

·       2 to 4 years of practical experience working with vulnerable populations, substance use services, mental health, or corrections

·       Satisfactory completion of a criminal records check with vulnerable sector screening is required

·       Satisfactory completion of Tuberculosis Screening form is required

·       Satisfactory completion of Employee Immunization Record form is required

·       First aid certification with CPR is required

·       Valid driver’s license is required

 

Skills & Knowledge

·       Knowledge of the needs of people affected by substance use, concurrent disorders, criminal justice involvement and homelessness

·       High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation

·       Ability to function independently while managing multiple tasks, and an ability to adapt to change is an ongoing expectation of this position

·       Strong knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

·       Experience using database management systems (e.g., electronic health records, enterprise resource planning, or customer relationship management)

·       Strong problem solving, analytical, and creative skills with the ability to exercise sound judgement and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis

·       Demonstrated strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

·       Ability to lead and work in a trauma-informed practice

·       Demonstrated commitment to the social sector with a passion for the organization’s mission is essential

·       Effectively works with and communicates with their colleagues to ensure organizational success and excellent support for clients
