Payroll and Accounts Payable Assistant

The schedule for this position is as follows:
- Monday, Tuesday (required) and Friday - hours may vary
- Up to 24 hours per week
SUMMARY - The Payroll-Accounts Payable Assistant will support the Payroll Manager and the Accounts Payable Department with processing payroll transactions/processes, entering invoices and processing the Company credit cards monthly.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Accurately keys all payroll related data necessary to process and meet schedules.
- Assist the Payroll Manager with payroll processing as directed
- Check payroll information for accuracy and ensure all relevant paperwork is in order
- Coordinate with HR about changes in payroll (e.g. terminations, new hires, benefits elections)
- Oversee electronic payments and distribution of payroll direct deposits/checks
- Update data with salary or wage adjustments
- Process other financial compensations or deductions (e.g. annual bonuses, severance pay, taxes, worker’s compensation)
- Handle benefit deductions, such as insurance fees or paid leave
- Answer employee questions or concerns regarding pay, deductions, etc.
- Work with HR and upper management on audits or requests as directed
- Researches and resolves client/system problems.
- Performs other duties related to administrative responsibilities as assigned by manager.
- Assists Accounts Payable Department with entering invoices and processing Company credit cards.
- All other duties as assigned.

- Excellent phone, computer, and customer service skills required.
- Ability to work in a team and perform well independently, meeting position requirements without constant supervision.
- Must display a high level of professionalism and customer service.
- Proficient in all MS Office applications including, but not limited to Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
- Positions and maneuvers small stacks of materials and computer reports (less than 20 pounds).
- Reaches for, handles, modifies, and positions one’s self when organizing / filing paperwork at floor, desk and overhead levels.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- One - Three years’ experience in payroll processing and accounts payable.
