Fort Garry Industries has an exciting opportunity for a Payroll Administrator to join our team at our corporate head office in Winnipeg.

What You Will Do:

  • Prepare and distribute biweekly payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery (hourly and salary rotating weekly)
  • Confidentially maintain accurate employee information, such as employee files, records of employee attendance, leave, and overtime calculations
  • Accurately track payroll-related support programs  (education assistance, boot and tool allowances, vacation time, etc.)
  • Collaborate with  the accounting department to prepare journal entries
  • Respond to employee and branch inquiries as required
  • Assist with group insurance benefits and reconcile monthly billing
  • Assist with the administration of FGI’s short-term disability program
  • Distribute T4s and ROEs as required by provincial legislation
  • Other duties as assigned

What We Require:

  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation required. A PCP candidate with extensive experience may be considered
  • 3-5+ years of experience in a dedicated payroll position preferred (experience with 500-1000 employee payroll)
  • Experience with Payworks payroll program preferred
  • Knowledge of multi-province payroll procedures and employment standards is an asset
  • Highly organized with a keen attention to detail — accuracy in documentation is essential to success in this role
  • Strong follow-up and accountability mindset — you don’t let issues slide
  • Able to prioritize multiple tasks — each task deserves your full effort
  • Excellent customer service skills – dedicated to exceeding the expectations of internal and external customers.
  • Strong written and verbal skills with the ability to write and speak succinctly with customers and colleagues.
  • Basic to proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (email, Word, Excel) and ability to learn in-house systems
