Patient Specialist

This position requires strong administrative skills, that include but not limited to knowledge about patient information encompassing billing, finance, insurance, and service authorization. This position evaluates Inpatient, Observations, Ancillary, Outpatient and Specialty Clinic scheduled appointments and determining if authorization/certification or admission notice is required. This position will review patient demographics, insurance verifications, and prepare documentation requests for authorization/certification with the insurance carriers. Works with Finance to maintain accurate records for facility payer contracts and payer credentialing. Work closely with various departments, especially scheduling/registration, but includes social services, Team Leaders, and Providers to complete their duties. This position assists the revenue cycle overall and complete tasks timely and as assigned.  Managing EPIC work queues and ensuring timely completion or follow-up. 

Education and/or Experience

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required. 
• Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) preferred.
• International Statistical Classification of Disease (ICD) coding training preferred.
• Previous experience in the medical field (medical office/registration).
• Medical terminology/or medical billing courses preferred.
• Patient Registration experience preferred. 

$22 - $24/hr based on experience and includes a generous Benefit package.
