Job Description
Title: Teacher
Reports To: Principal
Primary purpose:
The teacher maintains a structured but caring and warm classroom allowing the students to thrive and develop with confidence and trust. The teacher is accessible, approachable, and welcoming, managing student situations with discretion, respect, and sensitivity.
Day to day responsibilities:
Teach ELA to upper elementary school aged dyslexic children utilizing dePaul School Orton-Gillingham based curriculum (training provided).
Teach social studies, writing or intensive reading to small classes.
Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
Evaluate students academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports.
Communicate with parents through digital means and conferences to inform, update and discuss students progress.
Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the school.
Regularly adjust to flexible scheduling and frequent student changes.
Leverage experience and training to adjust teaching styles and curriculum to student needs.
Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities as necessary.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree from an accredited university required.
FL Teaching Certification preferred.
Classroom management experience preferred. Class size is typically under 10 students.
Training in an Orton-Gillingham preferred.
Experience working with children with learning disabilities preferred.

Salary based off of experience, skills, training, education and flexibility. Range $45,000 - $55,000.
