This role is responsible for fulfilling Medical Billing and Nurse Scheduling duties.

Responsibilities:

  • (Medical Billing) Thorough review and verification of all patient billing data before submission. Understanding that even the smallest error in coding or documentation could lead to significant repercussions for both patients and the organization.

  • (Medical Billing) Precision in claim submission. From ensuring that all required fields are accurately filled out to double-checking coding and documentation, our ideal candidate leaves no stone unturned in the process.

  • (Medical Billing) A/R management. In the event of discrepancies or rejections, our ideal candidate doesn't just move on to the next task. Instead, they delve deep into the issue, conducting thorough investigations to identify the root cause. Whether it's a simple coding error or a complex insurance issue, they're dedicated to resolving it with utmost diligence.

  • (Nurse Scheduling) Creating and maintaining schedules for assigned patients. Monthly and Daily schedules for assigned patients must be kept updated. Daily schedules must be updated often and may need to be updated multiple times per day due to parent’s changes, nurse availability, nurse changes, etc. As necessary, provide alternative coverage for call-outs/vacation/non-returning nurses. 

  • (Nurse Scheduling) Work closely with payroll to ensure timesheet submissions are on time, and routinely communicate on a daily basis regarding pay rates and overtime approval.

  • (Nurse Scheduling) Arrange “meet and greet” sessions for nurses and clients, and obtain feedback on meet and greet from attendees.

  • (Nurse Scheduling) Keeping patient profiles updated, communicating changes to appropriate contacts. Checking for discharge papers and sending them to supervisors.

  • (Nurse Scheduling) Various other coordinating duties including, but not limited to: Sending out availability calendars. Maintain applicable spreadsheets. Generating a monthly on-call schedule. Communicating with field nurses, families and school districts on an ongoing/regular basis. Adding nurse training to the schedules. Communicating with Field Nurse Supervisors for nurse placement. Coordinating schedules with families, schools, and nurses. Addressing school delays, closings and sudden changes, e.g. 1/2 days by school districts.

  • Excellent communication in interactions with nurses, school districts, insurance companies, patients, internal stakeholders, and all other contacts. Ensure that all communications are clear, concise, and accurate, leaving no room for misunderstandings or errors. Communicate any issues you encounter with supervisors, directors, and managers, as well as make a record of journal notes.

  • HIPAA compliance. Understanding the sensitive nature of medical information and being unwavering in commitment to HIPAA compliance, adhering to strict protocols to safeguard patient data, and paying meticulous attention to confidentiality. Protecting patient privacy is non-negotiable. 

  • Continuous improvement. Our ideal candidate constantly seeks ways to improve processes, streamline workflows, and enhance accuracy. They understand that excellence requires ongoing dedication to refinement and enhancement.

Compensation:

  • $23/hr

Qualifications:

  • College graduate-B.A. or B.S, or an Associate’s Degree from an accredited 2-year College

  • At least 2-3 years of previous scheduling experience-preferably in a healthcare related company

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing

  • Proficiency in medical billing software

  • Familiarity with insurance verification and authorization processes

  • Strong attention to detail, time management and organizational skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines

  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy

  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high volume setting of work tasks
