POSITION SUMMARY

The Oklahoma City Museum of Art is currently seeking a part-time professional, high-energy barista-bartender with excellent communication skills to serve specialty coffee, alcoholic beverages and baked goods to our visitors.  Ultimately, the barista-bartender ensures an excellent experience for our visitors while keeping the Bar safe, clean and presentable.  

  Welcoming visitors, informing them about specials or new items, answering questions.

Communicate well with guests and fellow team members

Cheerfully wait on guests, make recommendations and up sell

Grinding and blending coffee beans, brewing coffee and tea, and serving items to visitors.

Maintain clean bar tables, chairs, stools and counter surface at all times

Serving prepared foods such as sandwiches or baked goods.

Serve beverages responsibly with visitor's best interest in mind.

Stock side station with garnishments, mixers, ice, etc.

Provide prompt, accurate report of all income received during shift.

Learning about brewing methods, beverage blends, and presentation techniques to improve quality

Receive food and beverage deliveries, checking delivery contents in order to verify product quality and quantity.

Cleaning and restocking work and dining areas, emptying trash and sanitizing equipment and utensils.

Keep equipment operation by following operational instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventative maintenance; calling for repairs.

Maintain safe and healthy work environment by following organization standards and sanitation regulations.

Review work procedures and operational problems in order to determine ways to improve service, performance and/or safety.

Provide assistance to other team members to contribute to the best overall performance of the department

Communicate visitor feedback to managers and recommend new items.

Perform other related duties as assigned.


REQUIREMENTS

To be successful in this role, strong customer service and communication skills are essential, as is keen attention to details and the ability to be flexible and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Must be open to work various shifts throughout the weekly schedule depending on business needs (fall - spring operating hours are Wednesday through Sunday until 5 pm except Thursdays when the hours are extended to 9 pm, and summer operating hours are Tuesday through Sunday until 5 pm except Thursdays when the hours are extended to 9 pm).

To be considered for this role you must have a high school diploma or equivalent, two years customer service and cash handling experience and the ability to obtain an alcohol-server license.  Must be able to stand and/or walk for long periods of time as well as lift, push, pull or carry up to 35 lbs.  While experience is not required, it is preferred. Training and willingness to continue learning about food and beverage preparation is essential.

  • Salary for this position is $12.00 per hour plus tips
