We are seeking a detail-oriented Packing Technician to support our compliance packaging operations using automated machinery. This role is essential to ensuring patients receive accurate and timely multi-dose or unit-dose medication packs, promoting adherence and safety. The ideal candidate will be comfortable operating, loading, and maintaining compliance packaging machines in a high-volume pharmacy environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesMachine Operation & Medication Packaging

Operate and monitor automated compliance packaging machines according to manufacturer and pharmacy protocols.

Load medications into machine canisters, trays, or cassettes, ensuring proper drug identification and lot tracking.

Initiate packing cycles and oversee the accurate production of blister cards, pouch packs, or strip packaging for patient medication regimens.
Verification & Quality Control

Conduct visual inspection of packaged medications to ensure correct placement, labeling, and sealing.

Flag and correct discrepancies or errors in packaging before final pharmacist verification.

Maintain clear documentation of production output, machine logs, and quality checks.
Inventory & Workflow Support

Replenish medication stock and machine components as needed to maintain uninterrupted workflow.

Assist with managing expired or returned medications used in the packaging process.

Coordinate with pharmacists and technicians to ensure prescriptions are prioritized and processed on time.
Machine Maintenance & Cleanliness

Perform routine cleaning and light maintenance of the packaging equipment to ensure operational efficiency.

Report malfunctions or service needs to appropriate personnel promptly.

Registered Pharmacy Technician in good standing with the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy.

Minimum of 2 years of experience in a pharmacy setting, with at least 1 year focused on inventory management preferred.

Familiarity with pharmacy management software (e.g., PioneerRx, QS/1, Rx30).

Strong organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.

Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT).

Experience with compliance packaging systems.

Ability to stand for extended periods and lift medication bins or trays as needed.
This role operates onsite in an independent pharmacy setting at our Carolina Park location. One of the company's primary functions is to provide patients with the type of medication they need. Because of this, you may be exposed to hazardous chemicals used in pharmacy compounding. It's important to understand the risks associated with handling hazardous chemicals, hazardous drugs, and hazardous compounded preparations. The environment is fast-paced and deadline-driven, with a strong emphasis on accuracy and patient safety.
