Packaging Operator
Summary of Position
The Packaging Operator is responsible for the operation of equipment used in the packaging of products at Tempered and Specialty Metals (TSM).
Responsibilities and Duties
As a minimum, the following is a basic description of typical duties and responsibilities expected of the Packaging Operator. These duties are not exhaustive and are subject to change as the needs of the organization require.
· Drive a forklift and operate an overhead crane to pull and move coils and skids within the warehouse, safely.
· Band and package material for shipping according to customer requirements.
· Assemble skids and other shipping containers as needed.
· Confirm material specifications on inventory tags for orders being shipped.
· Stage material for shipping according to bill of ladings.
· Generate inventory tags to be placed on material being received.
· Enter inventory tag data into the computer system.
· Obtain appropriate signatures on bills of lading.
· Operate packaging line machine.
· Use shrink wrapping machine.
· Uses precision and safety when operating tools such as saws, banding equipment, nail and staple guns, among others.
· Maintain shipping supplies and alert Packaging lead of low inventories.
· Keep immediate work area clean and organized throughout the day.
· Adhere to all TSM safety rules, regulations and quality standards.
