Summary of Position

The Outside Sales Representative is responsible for providing premier customer service to all current and potential customers from the point of initial contact through delivery of the product. It is also the responsibility of the Outside Sales Representative to achieve sales and profit goals established by the management team at Rolled Metal Products, Inc. (RMP).

Responsibilities and Duties

As a minimum, the following is a basic description of typical duties and responsibilities expected of the Outside Sales Representative. These duties are not exhaustive and are subject to change as the needs of the organization require. 

·         Increase profitable sales in territory and provide support to new, targeted, and growth customers.

·         Act as the liaison between the customer and RMP, provide value-added products, services and specific tailor-made solutions to differentiate RMP from competition.

·         Develop sales prospect lists and visit new leads.  Bring to RMP a minimum of four (2-3) new or reactivated customers per month with profitable business that meet forecasted profit objectives.

o   Assess industry leads by segment, product, and process

o   Products and capabilities

o   Travel expected – (3-4) days per week

·         Identify competition in the marketplace, such as equipment capabilities, limitations, profit margins and steel source.

·         Properly educate customers and prospective customers on RMP capabilities and products.

·         Stay in constant contact with Inside Sales to operate as a team to collectively assess, quote, and close business before competition can engage customer.

·         Complete utilization of CRM – “ZOHO”

o   Call reports (completed within 24hrs of call)

o   Any/all customer contacts either verbal or e-mail

o   Lost orders

o   Open Quotes/Opportunities

o   New leads & Prospects

·         Meet or exceed all monthly sales goals, profit goals (Net & Gross) and aged inventory movement goals.

·         Engage RMP’s management to establish a vertical relationship with customers at levels beyond front line buyers / purchasing agents and managers.

·         Maintain knowledge of current trends and developments in the field and attend appropriate workshops and seminars to strengthen skills and knowledge of industry.

·         Inspect defective material in the field and document for Quality and Inside Sales.

·         Participate constructively in sales meetings.

·         Communicate effectively with other Outside Sales Representatives, Inside Sales, and management.

·         Submit expense reports and other departmental expenses to General Manager for approval in a timely manner.

·         Adhere to all RMP’s policies, procedures, and codes of business ethics.

·         Contribute to a positive work environment based on teamwork and continuous improvement. 

Required Qualifications

·         Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Marketing or related area

·         Three or more years of experience in metal or industrial manfacture product sales

·         Valid State Driver’s License; safe driving record

·         Marketing experience, ensuring ability to recognize opportunities

·         Microsoft Office proficiency, including Word, Excel, and Outlook

·         Excellent written and oral communication skills

·         Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills

·         Ability to effectively multi-task and work independently on assigned tasks

·         Excellent attention to detail and ability to transfer data accurately

·         Strong work ethic; self-motivated

·         Operate with high integrity, maintaining positive relations with co-workers, customers, and suppliers

Preferred Qualifications

·           Four or more years of experience in steel service center type sales and marketing

·           Preferably candidate will reside in East/Central GA or West SC area
