Outside Machinist

Venture Dynamics is seeking an experienced Outside Machinist/Mechanic to support ship repair and maintenance operations in Jacksonville, FL. This role involves working on U.S. Navy and commercial vessels, focusing on the removal, installation, maintenance, and testing of critical shipboard equipment.

• Perform hands-on mechanical work on main and auxiliary shipboard equipment, including but not limited to:
  • Marine propulsion systems
  • Generators and auxiliary engines
  • Main Reduction Gears (MRGs)
  • Pumps, hydraulics, and valves
  • Bearings and precision components
  • Hatches, doors, and scuttles
  • Laundry washers, dryers, and galley equipment
  • Windows, scullery equipment, and other shipboard machinery
• Work on ships in various stages of repair, overhaul, and modernization.
• Use hand and power tools effectively for mechanical repairs and installations.
• Interpret and follow job specifications, blueprints, and technical manuals.
• Read and utilize precision instruments for measurements and alignment.
• Apply expertise in mechanical processes, troubleshooting, and trade tools.
• Understand and navigate general shipboard layouts for equipment access and removal.

• Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in ship repair and maintenance.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Proficiency in mechanical processes, alignment, and the use of precision measuring tools.
• Familiarity with shipboard layouts, systems, and equipment.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Compliance with all OSHA safety standards and company policies.
• Must be physically capable of wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Must have reliable transportation.

• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Must pass a drug screening and background check.
• Eligibility to obtain a Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) badge for U.S. Navy base access.
