What You'll Do

As a full-time Physician at SCHC, you will provide comprehensive primary care to patients across the lifespan, including preventive services, acute care, and chronic disease management. You will diagnose and manage a wide range of medical conditions, coordinate care with specialists as needed, and support an integrated, team-based approach to patient care. You will also play an active role in strengthening and expanding SCHC’s clinical services, participate in provider meetings, and support community outreach initiatives that align with SCHC’s mission. This position offers a four-day workweek with no weekends, holidays, or on-call duties, and a competitive salary range of $235,000-$250,000, depending on experience.

Summary/Objective: To provide expert, patient-centered, primary care to a diverse population for a variety of health problems in an FQHC health clinic.


Essential Functions:

1. Patient Care

     a. Diagnose/Treat diseases/disorders & make appropriate disposition.

     b. Prescribe, dispense, and administer medications.

     c. Maintain records of medical history and treatment utilizing the problem-oriented medical record.

     d. Ensures appropriate referrals, encourages continuity of care.

     e. Provide information and education to patient and family members regarding diagnosis, treatment, prevention and safety in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.

     f. Receive test results.

     g. Provide emergency treatment as needed.

     h. Initiate / continue medical regimens. Provide follow-up and treatment as needed.

2. Contribute professional medical expertise to educational activities in health center.

3. Provide consultation to nurse practitioners / physician assistants as needed.

4. Provide Medical Student / Resident education, as needed or assigned.

5. Participate in collaborative treatment with other clinicians and health professionals.

6. Assist in the development of in-service training and orientation activities regarding patient care.

7. Contribute professional medical expertise to evaluative activities in health center.

8. Provide inputs to CMO on procedures/activities impacting services or schedule. Assists in the implementation of an on-going in service training program.

9. Adhere to health center policy and procedures.

10. Participates and adheres to quality assurance and improvement activities, periodic chart review.

11. Attends provider meetings, internal and external departmental meetings to discuss progress in meeting clinical program and health center goals.


All Clinic employees are expected to:

  • Work as a team player to accomplish the goals of the Clinic.
  • Maintain operations by following the Clinic’s policies and procedures, following established safety practices and reporting perceived need/s for changes.
  • Provide the highest level of service to clients.
  • Maintain confidentiality by following all applicable HIPAA regulations.
  • Respect Clinic equipment used to perform job tasks.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Serve as collaborating, supervising physician for mid-level practitioners including nurse practitioners.

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional medical clinic environment with potential exposure to blood and body fluids and other hazardous substances. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Travel:

No travel is expected for regular job duties. Travel may occasionally be required for training purposes. If personal vehicle is used for specified job-related errands or travel to/from training events, mileage will be reimbursed as specified in the Employee Handbook.

Qualifications

Education, Experience, Certifications, Licenses and Registrations:

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible Primary Care Physician.
  • Graduation from an accredited school of medicine, with a M.D., D.O, M.B.B.S degree.
  • Completion of residency program in primary care: Family Practice, Internal Medicine, OBGYN, Peds.
  • Current DEA certificate
  • Current hospital admitting privileges and credentials
  • Current insurance privileges and credentials.
  • Valid California license to practice Medicine.
  • Current BLS Certification.


Skills and Competencies:

Verbal and written communication proficiency, ethical conduct, flexibility, initiative, ability to multi-task, time management, highly organized, detail oriented. Customer services skills, sensitivity to client needs, remains calm in emergency situations, upholds strict confidentiality requirements. Familiarity with computer processes, including word processing and spreadsheet programs.

  • Ability to lift or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
