Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced and proactive Route Supervisor to lead
daily collection operations across residential, industrial, commercial, and
institutional services. In this role, you will oversee route execution, ensure
service quality, coach and develop drivers, and maintain compliance with safety
and regulatory standards. Your leadership will play a critical role in
operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and community trust.
Key Responsibilities
- Assign drivers to daily routes based on availability and service needs.
- Oversee the daily execution of assigned routes, including driver coordination, coaching, and performance reviews.
- Manage complex routes for industrial, commercial, and residential collections, prioritizing route start-up, monitoring, and completion.
- Adjust schedules in real-time to respond to service disruptions while maintaining efficiency and minimizing delays.
- Respond to missed pickups, urgent service calls, and field-level complaints.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols, municipal regulations, and operational standards through regular inspections and driver coaching.
- Utilize GPS, dispatch software, and mobile reporting tools to monitor route progress, document service issues, and maintain safety checklists.
- Track operational efficiency and recommend improvements to optimize route coverage, equipment use, and resource allocation.
- Foster high-quality service delivery and community satisfaction through active engagement and oversight.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Driver productivity, route completion rate, and dispatch response time.
- Field-level issue resolution and service consistency.
- Community feedback, complaint handling, and response times.
- Compliance with safety protocols and operational standards.
- Equipment utilization, operational cost control, and route efficiency.
What You Will Bring
- Previous supervisory experience in waste management, logistics, or high-volume operations.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach and motivate frontline teams.
- Proficiency in GPS, dispatch systems, and route management tools.
- Knowledge of municipal and provincial collection regulations.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Commitment to safety, compliance, and service excellence.
