 Summary of Duties:
Reporting to the EOC-Communication-Ops Manager, the custodian will ensure the cleanliness of the Ullus building. The custodian will ensure the facility is clean and neat, in a safe manner that meets company standards. The events host will set up and tear down for events.

Key Deliverables and Expectations:

  • Ensure the cleanliness and disinfection of the floors, windows, fixtures (in all washrooms) daily, refill washroom dispensers as needed. 
  • Complete daily cleaning schedules including dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, wiping down all surfaces in all offices, gym, and restrooms. 
  • Operate various industrial cleaning equipment such as buffers, vacuum cleaners, carpet machines, steam cleaner. 
  • Move furniture, clean, dust, and wipe down furniture and underneath, and return it to its original position.
  • Empty trashcans, other waste containers, and recyclables and ensuring they are sorted into appropriate bins in the waste area. 
  • Wash interior windows and walls as required.
  • Clean and disinfect kitchen area, including the small appliances. 
  • Refill paper towel, tissue, toilet paper, hand soap, and hand sanitizer in all dispensers when required. 
  • Launder cleaning rags and dust mop when needed. 
  • Collects and disposes of garbage/recycled materials. 
  • Meet and greet clients hosting events.
  • Set up and tear down for events.
  • Set up AV equipment as needed.
  • Ensure the facility is secured and locked when not in use. 
  • Advise the Reporting Manager/Supervisor of any needed supplies and provide recommendations for replacements. 
  • Report any maintenance and safety concerns to Building Operations Manager/Reporting Manager/Supervisor.
  • Follows all applicable safety rules and procedures. 
  • Perform other related duties as requested. 

Experience and Attributes:

  • Minimum of Grade 10 education.
  • Building Services Worker (1-3 years) training is an asset.
  • First Aid/CPR certification is an asset.
  • WHMIS certification is an asset.
  • Previous experience in custodial or janitorial work.
  • Knowledge of cleaning equipment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Líl̓wat Nation community, history, culture, language, and customs an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong ability to work collaboratively as a team player.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds.
  • Must be able to provide a clear Criminal Record Check, including the vulnerable sector.
