The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction is seeking compassionate, skilled, and dedicated Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and Registered Nurses (RNs) to provide high-quality healthcare services within a correctional setting. As part of an interdisciplinary medical team, the nurse delivers direct patient care to incarcerated individuals in compliance with Ohio Department of Health standards, facility protocols, and evidence-based nursing practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine and emergency nursing care, including medication administration, wound care, chronic disease management, and health screenings.

  • Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and other healthcare professionals to implement and evaluate individualized patient care plans.

  • Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and timely in accordance with institutional and legal standards.

  • Monitor and manage communicable disease protocols and infection control measures.

  • Respond to medical emergencies and triage urgent health issues appropriately within a secure environment.

  • Educate patients on health maintenance and wellness, respecting their dignity and rights.

  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, safety, and security policies.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Ohio licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN).

  • CPR certification.

  • Correctional or behavioral health experience preferred but not required.

  • Strong critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills.

  • Ability to function effectively in a structured, secure environment.

Work Environment:
Nurses in ODRC facilities work in a correctional institution setting, providing care under heightened security protocols. The role is essential in supporting the health and rehabilitation of incarcerated individuals and ensuring public safety through healthcare excellence.
