Position SummaryThe Occupational Therapist (OT) provides skilled therapy services to help patients regain independence and improve their ability to perform daily activities. The OT assesses, plans, and implements individualized treatment programs to restore or develop functional skills lost due to injury, illness, or disability. This role follows Connecticut Department of Public Health and American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) standards of practice, emphasizing patient-centered and evidence-based care.
The ideal candidate demonstrates compassion, professionalism, and a strong commitment to improving patient outcomes and quality of life.
Key Responsibilities-
Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations to assess physical, cognitive, and emotional abilities related to daily living activities.

Develop and implement personalized treatment plans based on functional goals and medical needs.

Provide therapeutic interventions focused on mobility, fine motor skills, self-care, and adaptive techniques.

Recommend and train patients in the use of adaptive equipment and assistive devices.

Collaborate with physicians, nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists, and family members to coordinate care.

Monitor and document patient progress and modify treatment plans as needed.

Educate patients and caregivers on home programs, exercises, and safety strategies to support independence.

Ensure all care and documentation comply with HIPAA, OSHA, and Connecticut Department of Public Health regulations.

Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and continuing education activities.

Maintain professional licensure and stay current with new therapy methods and best practices.

Active and unrestricted Connecticut Occupational Therapist License.

Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program (Master’s or Doctorate in Occupational Therapy required).

Current CPR/BLS certification.

Minimum 1–2 years of clinical experience preferred (new graduates welcome to apply).

Excellent assessment, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) documentation.

Must be available at least 3 days per week, with flexibility for patient scheduling.

Experience in home health, long-term care, rehabilitation, or outpatient therapy.

Knowledge of adaptive equipment, ergonomic assessments, and environmental modifications.

Familiarity with Medicare/Medicaid documentation and reimbursement requirements.
