Nursery Worker / Child Care Provider
We are looking for a Nursery
Worker to provide supervision and care of children attending the various
child-centered ministries of the Church. This position reports to the Nursery
Coordinator.
The ideal candidate must be highly motivated; enthusiastic, sincere, and patient when working with children and interacting with parents; high level of awareness and alertness to each child’s needs, demeanor, interactions, participation, and attitude; able to multitask; and able to demonstrate commitment to attendance and punctuality. You must be able to follow through with all guidance and plans set by the Nursery Coordinator.
Essential Duties
- Cares for child or children in a day care facility, attending to their personal needs.
- Observes and monitor play activities or amuses children by ready to or playing games with them.
- Engage with children 0-6 years in organized activities while staying in nursery, i.e., age-appropriate songs, stories, lessons, crafts, etc.
- Responsible for providing age-appropriate care which includes: feeding, changing diapers, escorting to the bathroom, maintaining a safe environment, putting children down for naps, holding, or sitting with and cheerfully interacting with children through games, stories, play and prayer. Universal precautions should always be used while time of body fluids.
- Ensures safety of the nursery environment, i.e., cleaning products and medications stored out of reach of children, outlet covers on electrical outlets, etc.
- Adherence to Woodland Baptist Church Child and Youth Safety Program.
- During time when children are present, perform cleaning and sanitizing routines as may be required. Such routines are to be performed upon children’s departure as well.
- Participate and interact with children on a positive basis in order to enhance a loving, nurturing, and developmental environment.
- Adhere to hygiene requirements at all times (e.g., hand washing, using gloves when changing diapers, cleaning up spills, etc.) and check frequently on children’s needs.
- Inform parents (or responsible adults) of any emergency or other condition affecting the child as called for in procedures adopted by the Church.
- Promptly fill out any reports or other paperwork as may be required.
- Cooperate professionally with Church staff and volunteers in the performance of duties.
- Dress appropriately, in attire respectful of the position, of parents and children, and of the purpose of the organization.
- Be present at the assigned location at the designated time.
- Performs other duties and required.
Education and Certifications
- Must have High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Must have or be willing to obtain child/infant CPR certification.
Experience
- Previous experience with child care monitoring and care needs is preferred.
- Must be 18 years in age or older.

- Ability to lift at least 50 pounds and actively participate in all activities.
- Satisfactory drug test and satisfactory background check for criminal and child protective findings.
- Experience in caring for children between the ages of 0 to 6 with the ability to adapt and interact with a variety of personalities.
Work Schedule
Every Sunday from 9 am to 12 pm – will be paid for 4 hours of work, if work less than that. Once a month on Friday evening for Parent’s Night Out, various other opportunities during the year; for example, Vacation Bible School – the whole week.
You may be required to undergo a background check and may be required to undergo a credit check, motor vehicle record check, and drug/alcohol screening depending upon the position for which you are applying.
