Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON)
Introduction:
Under direction of the Director of Nursing, assists the Director of Nursing in planning,
developing, coordinating, and evaluating nursing services programs provided by
the facility; assists the Director of Nursing in review and evaluation of
patient service needs; assists with the developing of new and revised programs,
policies, and procedures to address elder service needs; establishes criteria and
standards for facility service delivery; assumes responsibility for achieving
goals and maintaining compliance with all regulatory accreditation
requirements; maintains infection control standards; promptly documents,
reports, and takes action to remedy any service deficiencies; maintains files
as assigned in accordance with policy and procedure; assists with managing
budget; assists in supervising employees. This position will also take the role of Infection Preventionist and oversee assisted living.
Responsibilities:
1) Setting standards, supporting implementation of and evaluating infection prevention practices such as hand hygiene, transmission-based precautions, and environmental cleaning and disinfection;
2) Reviewing policies and procedures annually and updating as needed;
3) Educating Staff;
4) Conducting surveillance by identifying and documenting infections;
5) Developing and implementing process measures to evaluate performance;
6) Facilitate outbreak investigations and learning from defects/root cause analysis as needed;
7) Ensuring public health is notified of reportable diseases;
8) Supporting implementation of influenza vaccination and tracking staff vaccination rates;
9) Writing and disseminating reports;
10) Active member of the quality assurance performance improvement committee (QAPI) and working with QAPI committee/program, and other key staff to strengthen infection prevention practices;
11) Supporting antibiotic stewardship initiatives;
12) Keeping current on any new viruses, illnesses, pandemics, etc.
13) As needed deliver nursing care, conducts assessments, administer medications, etc.
14) Must take on-call as determined by Nursing Office.
15) Maintain all required licensure and certifications
16) Assist the Director of Nursing in supervising employees within the nursing department.
17) Assisted living responsibilities will include
- Oversees, manages and instructs direct care staff in Assisted Living. Conducts annual Assisted Living staff Performance Reviews.
- Works in coordination with the DON to ensure care needs are being met in Assisted Living
- Conducts annual and as-needed assessments of all Assisted Living residents
- Manages licensing surveys and reviews by entities including, but not limited to the Ohio Department of Health, Medicaid Waiver program, Ombudsman program, and the area agency on aging 3.
- Addresses resident and family requests and concerns.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse in the state of Ohio
- CPR certification
- Six (6) months of related experience or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in long-term care.
- Knowledge of infection control and willing to attend trainings as necessary to adequately carry out the duties as the nurse manager/infection preventionist.
