Nurse Manager Duties

On call

Scheduling of nurses and aides

Payroll

Admissions

a.     Monitor all admissions for completeness

b.     Help with all admissions when in house – help with inputting physician orders

c.      Make sure that medications are faxed to pharmacy with a phone call so meds are delivered promptly.

d.     Look for upcoming appointments throughout discharge paperwork, put on computer for transportation to be set up

e.     Add the specialists for that resident into computer so nurses can then put in orders on return from the visits

MDS

a.       Do sections GG which are functional assessments. Go to the floor with the resident to see how they can function and work with therapy on their abilities to code on the MDS/ will fill out J as instructed also. 

STNA evaluations and tracking of

Monitoring floors for compliance (dining rooms, shower rooms, nurses’ stations, hallways, medication carts, treatment carts etc.) 

Lab requisition monitoring for medications and pertinent diagnosis as ordered by physician and per medical director protocol

UDA monitoring for follow-up (data assessments that nurses are assigned per shift to do and skilled charting assessments)
