Sous Chef for new Restaurant (Benfinita)

Key Responsibilities:
  • Food Preparation:
    • Prepare and cook a wide variety of Italian dishes, following recipes and ensuring consistent quality and presentation.
    • Assist in menu modifications, contributing ideas for new dishes and specials.
    • Ensure proper portion control and food presentation.
    • Maintain a clean and organized workstation and ensure adherence to food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Kitchen Operations:
    • Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff, including line cooks, and other kitchen personnel.
    • Train new kitchen staff and provide ongoing support and guidance.
    • Manage inventory, order supplies, and ensure proper storage of food and kitchen equipment.
    • Assist in scheduling and managing staff during busy periods.
    • Maintain a positive and professional work environment.
  • Quality Control:
    • Monitor the quality of ingredients and finished dishes, ensuring they meet restaurant standards.
    • Identify and address any issues with food quality or presentation.
    • Ensure all food is prepared and served in a timely manner.
  • Leadership and Management:
    • Take initiative and problem-solve in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
    • Delegate tasks effectively and provide clear instructions to staff.
    • Maintain a high level of professionalism and communication with both staff and management.
    • Follow all company policies and procedures.
  • Specific to Italian Cuisine:
    • Possess a strong understanding of Italian cooking techniques and ingredients.
    • Be able to prepare a wide variety of Italian dishes, including pasta, sauces, pizzas, and desserts.
    • Be able to identify and utilize different types of Italian ingredients and their proper preparation methods.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or similar role in a high-volume kitchen.
  • Excellent cooking skills and knowledge of Italian cuisine.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A passion for food and cooking.
