Night Auditor
The hotel night auditor is to audit all adjustments made by the hotel employees such as the Front Desk, Restaurant, Lounge, and Accounting. To troubleshoot any corrections or changes that need to take place and assist the Hotel Accountant and Department Managers in the proper procedures for said adjustments. Job hours are overnight. Position guidelines include, but are not limited to, established company and department policies and procedures and all supervisory directives. The incumbent is expected to exercise sound, reasonable judgment, and initiative in the performance of job responsibilities.
Summary of essential job functions
- Review all adjustments and corrections made by the Front Desk. Follow up with Hotel Accountant, employee, and department manager.
- Review all discounts and adjustments made by Micros outlets. Follow up with employees and department managers.**
- Review all deposit for discrepancies such as over and shorts. Follow up with the employee and department managers.**
- Responsible for checking the accuracy of credit card batches sent to the back for payment. Weed-out any payment/return duplications to save on transaction fees. Prepare Deposit report for Hotel Accountant and verify deposits against bank statements.**
- Work with Hotel Accountant of monthly grant billings and annual reporting.**
- Work with Accounting Clerk concerning tax exemptions and proper documentation of exemptions.**
- Audit of Comp Rooms and discounted room rates.**
- Audit of amenities rung up vs. actual requests and billed.**
- End of month audit of house-use folios.**
- Balance all transactions for the day.**
- Roll the business day.**
- All front desk responsibilities during the overnight hours.**
- Act as Overnight Manager on Duty.**
- Additional duties upon the request of the Front Office Manager or Controller.*Educational/Experience Requirements
- One plus year of experience preferred in Hotel Accounting or Night Audit in a similar organization.
Abilities Required
- Must have knowledge of departmental operations
- Must have knowledge of computers and training techniques.
- Ability to read, write and speak the English language to communicate effectively.
- Ability to exercise judgment in evaluating situations and making sound decisions.*Must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance (specific standards available).
