This position requires at least 3 years of experience working with children K-5thgrade as a Music Teacher.  You must have completed a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a related field. Master’s degree is highly desired.

We are a Spanish and Mandarin immersion school, and so native Spanish and Mandarin fluency is highly desired

The Pine Street music teacher generates an environment in which students can create and respond to music in various forms.  Through creating and responding, students use music as an avenue towards Transdisciplinary learning.  Songs and rhymes are taught to help students learn about form, structure, and language.  In those songs, students hear patterns and learn about rhythms that they can use in their own language development.

The Pine Street music teacher also helps students become risk takers through instrument exploration, dancing, and recording and live performance opportunities.  The music teacher must allow time in the class for students to reflect and make connections to their personal lives and the surrounding environment.

Through the use of technology, our students develop and apply strategies for critical and creative thinking, engage in inquiry, make connections, and apply new understandings and skills in different contexts. We ask every teacher to embrace technology and see it like any tool that empowers the learner to broaden the expression of an idea (often artistically), innovate, solve a problem, learn something new, verify what they think they know, communicate and collaborate with others, and so much more.
