Mortgage Loan Officer
OBJECTIVE:
Responsible for the origination of new residential mortgage loans. Develops new business by establishing and maintaining relationships with real estate brokers and other key individuals and organizations in the community.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Promotes the growth and prosperity of the Bank by professionally serving the needs of the customer
- Actively participates in community affairs and organizations to enhance the Bank’s image and loan market share
- Actively solicits business from realtors, builders, and other business contacts
- Establishes a business call program revising as necessary for effectiveness
- Originates loan applications; interviews customers and addresses potential underwriting problems
- Makes pre-qualification determinations optimizing the best type of financing arrangements for both parties
- Assures loans are processed accurately and with complete documentation
- Verifies incoming loan documents (e.g. appraisals, credit reports, confirmations, tax returns)
- Assures documentation discrepancies are corrected
- Answers inquiries from potential customers and real estate brokers
- Coordinates closings with attorneys and delivers attorney packages and closing checks, as necessary
- Performs other duties as requested
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
- Degree in the business-related field
- Three to five years’ experience in loan origination and business development
- Thorough knowledge of the mortgage loan application process and government guidelines and regulations
- Experience in additional functional banking areas preferred
- Current NMLS Number.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong computer skills including MS applications
- Well developed human relations skills
- Ability to communicate (written and verbally) with co-workers, customers, insurance agents, realtors and attorneys
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Traditional retail office environment
- Occasional Travel in the Texas Panhandle
