Reporting to the Construction Supervisor, the Operations Support Miner will carry out various underground tasks, including maintenance of common areas and sanitary units, as well as transporting equipment and materials. Based at the Windfall site, located in the Nord-du-Québec region, he or she will be called upon to work on a rotating schedule.

Duties and responsibilities               

• General maintenance of shelters and sanitary units;
• Transport and receive merchandise;
• Manage explosive scrap;
• Maintenance and inventory of powder magazines;
• Drill bit sharpening, inventory and bag tracking;
• Monthly inspection of fixtures, underground extinguishers and self-rescuers;
• Inspect and maintain the fuel station (SAT-STAT) and pressure boosting systems on the water line;
• Carry out maintenance and repairs on fixed pumping stations and the MUDWIZARD water/sludge separation system;
• Maintain wash bays and components, sumps and repair chain hoists;
• Change and repair fixed and mobile pumps;
• Assist the stationary mechanic with complex repairs to the pumping system;
• Track inventory of parts to repair pumps and SATSTAT station;
• Operate pumping station;
• Operate various mobile mining equipment;
• Follow-up on environmental kits;
• Support contract workers in their tasks;
• Build and install shelves and do miner construction work;
• Ensure safety in common areas (cleaning, lighting, etc.);
• Report to supervisor any situations that may affect work. Report any suggestions for improvement and innovative ideas to improve the supply process;
• Respect health and safety and environmental policies and rules at all times;
• Assist the mining department in their daily tasks;
• Perform any other tasks related to the position that are relevant to the success of the project.

Technical skills

• Skytrack telescopic forklift operator certification (an asset);
• Mining tractor driving certification (an asset);
• Good carpentry skills and knowledge;
• Basic skills in fixed mechanics and good knowledge of pumps (an asset).

Qualifications required

• Vocational diploma in ore extraction, plus (2-3) years' experience in underground mining;
• Valid driver's license;
• Possession of an explosives license;
• Completion of mining modules 1-2-3-4-5 and 7.
