We are seeking a mission-aligned, passionate, and knowledgeable Middle School World History Teacher to join our team. This position teaches World History for high school credit to middle school students, requiring a strong command of historical content, effective instructional strategies, and a deep belief in the potential of every student.
The ideal candidate will inspire students to explore historical events, global cultures, and human development, while building skills in critical thinking, analysis, and historical inquiry.
Key Responsibilities:Instruction & Classroom Management:Design and implement rigorous, standards-aligned lesson plans that fulfill high school World History requirements for middle school students.
Teach core concepts including ancient civilizations, world religions, global conflicts, revolutions, cultural movements, and the development of societies over time.
Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic and developmental needs of middle school learners.
Create a structured, engaging, and respectful classroom environment that promotes inquiry, analysis, and discourse.
Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student learning and adjust instruction accordingly.
Integrate technology, project-based learning, and interdisciplinary connections to enrich the learning experience.
Build strong relationships with students while maintaining high expectations for academic performance and behavior.
Implement social-emotional learning (SEL) practices to support student growth and a positive classroom culture.
Communicate regularly with families about student progress, successes, and areas for growth.
Ensure a safe, inclusive learning environment by enforcing school-wide behavior norms and expectations.
Demonstrate a growth mindset and seek continuous improvement through feedback and reflection.
Collaborate with instructional coaches, content leads, and grade-level teams to support curriculum development and student success.
Participate in professional development, coaching cycles, and school initiatives.
Contribute to the broader school community through team meetings, events, and committee involvement.
Bachelor’s degree in History, Education, or a related field (required).
Valid North Carolina teaching license or eligibility for licensure in Middle Grades or Secondary Social Studies (preferred).
Experience teaching middle or high school Social Studies (preferred but not required).
Strong classroom management and lesson design skills.
