Position Title: Middle School English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher

Reports To: Principal/Sr. Executive Director 
Location: Carter G. Woodson Charter School K-12 


Carter G. Woodson School is seeking a passionate, student-centered Middle School English Language Arts Teacher to join our growing instructional team. Qualifications
  • North Carolina Teaching License in English Language Arts (or eligibility for licensure)

  • Teaching experience preferred (both early-career and experienced educators are encouraged to apply)

  • Strong instructional skills in reading, writing, and critical thinking

  • Ability to differentiate instruction and engage diverse learners

  • Effective classroom management grounded in respect and consistency

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

  • Reliable attendance and a commitment to being present and engaged for students

What You’ll Do
  • Design and deliver engaging, standards-aligned ELA instruction

  • Create a structured, inclusive classroom where students feel seen, challenged, and supported

  • Use student data and work samples to inform instruction and support growth

  • Partner with families to support student learning and success

  • Collaborate with colleagues through planning, professional learning, and school-wide initiatives

  • Contribute positively to a mission-aligned school culture

Compensation

Salary is commensurate with experience.
