Summary

Metals Instrumentation Analysts will analyze water and soil samples on the Mercury analyzer, ICP-OES and ICP-MS. His/her/their responsibilities include the calibration of instrumentation, basic maintenance and troubleshooting of instrumentation, as well as reviewing, processing and reporting data into the LIMS system.

Job Duties

• Analyze water and soil digestions, water extractions, and dissolved waters for specified metals on the ICP-OES, ICP-MS or Mercury analyzer.
• Use specified methods on the instrumentation in order to analyze the desired metals.
• Calibrate instrumentation, maintaining the highest quality of data possible during analysis and data processing. Ensuring only data which has passed all QC is posted for Team Leader approval.
• Perform and record routine maintenance on all instrumentation.
• Prepare and document calibration and QC standards for all instrumentation as required. Also preparing other reagents which may be required in order to run instrumentation.
• Troubleshooting of instrumentation.
• Organize workload according to due dates.
• Maintain turn-around times (TATs) to ensure client jobs are reported on the specified date, including regular and rush TATs.
• Undertaking other duties and tasks as may be assigned from time to time by the Metals Team Leader.

Requirements

• Education in chemistry or related field.
• One (1) years of experience working as a lab analyst.
• Must be a dynamic individual who is very organized, maintains a clean work area, pays attention to detail and has a strong sense of urgency when executing his/her tasks.
• Must be able to establish good communication with the Metals Team Leader and other staff in the organization, specifically his/her/their team mates.
• Must be able to come to work on a daily basis and as requested.
• Must be able to multi-task.
• Able to analyze problems and strategize for better solutions.
• Completion of KaizenLAB Academy Lab Analyst I Training Program (internal applicants)
