Village Media’s Cares Team is growing and we are looking for a passionate storyteller and community connector to join us in our mission to create meaningful and lasting change in the communities we serve.


We believe that small gestures can spark big change. From our Community Builders Awards and Random Acts of Kindness program to charity match initiatives and work amplifying the voices of changemakers, the Cares Team provides a platform for empowering the people and organizations making a difference.


The Cares Team also oversees the Village Media membership program, offering exclusive engagement opportunities to over 200,000 members across our 27 communities. 


ABOUT THE ROLE


As a membership & marketing coordinator you will:


  • Plan and deliver community-focused campaigns, surprise activations and storytelling projects

  • Build and nurture relationships with local readers, non-profits, businesses and residents

  • Collaborate with local editorial and business development teams to grow the impact of Cares Team initiatives

  • Write compelling content that celebrates good news, community heroes and local changemakers

  • Help evolve the membership program to contribute to continued growth and engagement across the Village Media network

  • Create compelling member communication pieces on a regular basis

  • Support the execution of special events and donation drives

  • Represent Village Media at local events

You are a great fit if you:


  • Are a strong communicator with previous experience in media, marketing, journalism, communications or community engagement

  • Have a solid understanding of social media and newsletter best practices

  • Are an excellent problem-solver

  • Have strong time management and organizational skills

  • Maintain consistent superior attention to detail

  • Have excellent writing skills and a knack for storytelling

  • Have a deep love for community and believe in the power of local

  • The successful candidate must live in or near Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario
