Heritage Manor, a privately owned, 70 bed personal care home for the frail elderly is looking for compassionate, loving and caring people to assist in taking care of our wonderful residents.
Shifts available:
- Evening 2:30 pm - 11:00 pm Full time
Position Requirements:
- Must have a clean background check in accordance with the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
- Must have a high school diploma or GED as a minimal education level.
- Must have taken the PA state Medication Administration training course and test with documentation of such, or willing to retake training and test.
- Must be drug free and willing to take a drug test.
- Must be able and willing to work weekends, both Saturdays and Sundays, as well as holidays.
- Must be patient, compassionate, loving and caring!
Candidates must have experience in administering medications in a personal care home setting and providing assistance with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, toileting, ambulating, eating and incontinence care. This position functions as a key member of the Resident Care team and reports directly to the Director of Resident Care.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Witness the administration of controlled narcotics and sign as witness.
2. Treat residents, staff, visitors with dignity and respect.
3. Communicate accurate condition reports to fellow staff members.
4. Complete Resident Care Assistant assignments including, but not limited to incontinence care, showering, ambulating, eating and all other ADL care.
5. Ensuring walking, visual face to face rounds are completed every 30 to 60 minutes.
6. Medication and treatment administration, within the scope of practice and according to physician orders.
7. Note expiration dates on medications, transmit refill requests and ensure timely delivery of refills.
8. Utilize the Care Suite electronic MAR system.
9. Daily MAR checks to ensure correct and accurate documentation.
10. Assist in supervision of quality and accuracy of Resident Care.
13. Assist in distribution/Collection of company issued devices including, but not limited to, walkie talkie, CAT phone
14. Ensure vital signs are completed and documented as ordered.
15. Monitor proper distribution of disposable briefs, noting whether supply is low and ordering appropriately.
16. Demonstrate courtesy in all interactions with residents, visitors, colleagues and supervisors.
17. Protect residents’ privacy at all times.
18. Perform all other duties as assigned by Director of Resident Care or Executive Director.
Skills required Ability to effectively communicate and prioritize tasks, make sound decisions and show good judgment is a must. Candidate must possess excellent verbal and written skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with peers, supervisors, residents and visitors. Close attention to detail is a must with the capability to organize tasks. Ability to deal with emergencies and to work in a crisis environment is requisite. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation and first aid training is required but provided. Attendance at all facility required trainings is mandatory. DPW approved medication administration and diabetic training is required but provided.
Educational Experience: High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma is required. Must be at least 21 years of age. Must pass Medication Certification course and have documentation of passing grade and state required forms. Must have diabetic education performed by a certified diabetic educator on an annual basis. Must follow all Medication Administration Policies and Procedures of Heritage Manor Senior Living and the Department of Human Services of the State of Pennsylvania.
Essential Functions: In order to meet residents’ needs, the position requires the ability to physically perform job duties and to work in the environmental conditions that require movement throughout the building. Stooping, sitting, bending, lifting, carrying, and steps, as well as other physical demands may be required. Standard safety and hygiene precautions must be utilized at all times.
Environment: May be exposed to hazardous chemicals and infectious diseases.
