Medical Technician - EEG Focus

Summary:

The primary role of the Medical Technician is to conduct EEG tests. Understand and perform TMS clinical services. Provide exceptional customer service to make sure the highest quality work standards are achieved and maintained according to the practice's policies and procedures.

Duties:

1. Have the ability to grasp new concepts quickly and efficiently.

2. Place electrodes along the scalp to perform the test or treatment requested by the provider.

3. Have the ability to learn and perform EEG (electroencephalographic) while locating brain abnormalities.

4. Apply appropriate medical device equipment to patients to collect and monitor data.

5. Willingness to independently study and ensure the cutting edge of the EEG technology.

6. Gather necessary medical history, explain testing procedures, and prepare the patient for the test.

7. Imperative advanced computer skills to accurately monitor tests to record brain electrical activity and note any abnormalities.

8. Report and document required patient information into the EMR system, record session notes, test results, and complete all superbills by the end of the day.

9. Provide TMS treatment according to specific physician protocols: Set up the TMS medical device and monitor all aspects of the treatment sessions for patient comfort and treatment accuracy.

10. Provide excellent care with strong communication skills that provide support, reflective listening, compassion and building a rapport to patients struggling with depression or other various disorders.

11. Flexibility to travel to numerous office locations to fit patients’ needs and time requirements.

12. Ensure office space cleanliness, including but not limited to treatment rooms, waiting for areas, front desk, and bathrooms.

13. Maintain patient safety by wearing personal protective equipment as required.

14. Investigate and communicate insurance coverage and verification issues.

15. Troubleshoot and resolve issues with patient comfort, coil contact, TMS, and EEG system setup throughout treatments or tests.

16. Possess the basic clinical assessment skills to identify real or potential adverse events during testing or treatment where the test of treatment should be interrupted or terminated.

17. Communicate concerns to TMS coordinator, clinical director, or physician when necessary.

18. Follows company policies and procedures and adhering to state and/or federal regulations.

19. Work with the necessary onboarding companies or various representatives to accomplish the multitude of duties required.

20. Perform additional duties as needed.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job without assistance from another individual. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be regularly required to physically be able to walk, stand, stoop, and bend. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific hand, visual, and auditory dexterity is required by this job, which includes close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Qualifications:

• Medical Assistant (Preferred)

• Associate or Bachelor’s Degree (Preferred)

• 1 or more years of medical office experience (Preferred)

• Knowledge of medical authorizations (Preferred)

• Advanced computer skills

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• High School Diploma or GED

• Knowledge of medical terminology

• Excellent communication skills

• Ability to work well with a team

• CPR Certified (or willing to get certification)
