Position Summary:
Veterans Engineering is seeking a Medical Supply Technician to support the VA Palo Alto Health Care System. This role is critical to ensuring that reusable medical equipment (RME) is properly decontaminated, sterilized, maintained, and distributed in compliance with VA and infection control standards.
Responsibilities:
- Clean, inspect, and sterilize medical instruments and equipment
- Use autoclaves and other sterilization technology according to SOPs
- Assemble and package surgical instrument trays for clinical use
- Track inventory and maintain sterilization logs
- Ensure accurate, timely distribution of sterile supplies
- Adhere to VA, OSHA, and infection prevention standards
- Collaborate with clinical departments to support daily operations
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 2 years of experience in sterile processing or medical supply distribution
- Certification in Sterile Processing (CBSPD or IAHCSMM) preferred
- Knowledge of standard sterilization techniques, RME reprocessing, and infection control
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and work in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with VA systems and logistics protocols a plus
Work Schedule:
- Full-time (40 hours/week)
- Shifts may vary; potential evening, weekend, or rotating shifts depending on facility needs
