Position: Full-Time Medical Records Technician
Location: Grand Traverse Pavilions

Are you an organized, detail-oriented individual with a passion for ensuring accurate and secure management of patient information? Grand Traverse Pavilions is looking for a skilled Medical Records Technician to join our team. In this role, you will play a vital part in maintaining the integrity of medical records, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations, and providing essential administrative support to our facility.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and Organize Medical Records
    Accurately file, retrieve, and archive patient/resident charts and documentation to ensure comprehensive and readily accessible records.

  • Collaborate with Clinical Teams
    Work closely with nurses, physicians, and other healthcare staff to ensure all documentation is properly recorded and up to date.

  • Ensure Compliance and Accuracy
    Verify records for completeness and compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory standards; promptly address missing or incorrect information.

  • Communicate with Staff and External Parties
    Handle requests for patient/resident records from authorized personnel, insurance companies, and other external entities while maintaining confidentiality.

  • Track and Update Data
    Monitor patient/resident information for accuracy and maintain an organized system for record updates, corrections, and data entry.

  • Utilize Electronic Health Record (EHR) Systems
    Operate EHR software (e.g., PointClickCare) to input, track, and retrieve patient data efficiently.

  • Support Other Administrative Tasks
    Assist with audits, reporting, and general departmental operations to ensure the smooth functioning of the Nursing department.

What We’re Looking For:
  • Experience in Medical Records or Health Information Management
    Prior experience handling patient records or working in a healthcare administrative setting is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Electronic Health Record Systems
    Experience with PointClickCare (PCC) or similar software is a plus.
  • Strong Organizational Skills
    Ability to manage large volumes of information and maintain meticulous records.
  • Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills
    Capable of working closely with healthcare staff and external agencies.
  • Attention to Detail
    Able to spot inconsistencies and ensure data accuracy.
  • Adaptability
    Comfortable handling multiple tasks and shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Compliance and Confidentiality
    Knowledge of HIPAA and other relevant regulations.
  • Background Clearance
    Must pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
