Calhoun County Medical Care Facility is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant to join our team.  This position would would also be responsible for assisting in the Medical Records Department. Note: This position works 40 hours per week 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with occasional later hours a few days each month for doctor rounds. This position also rotates weekends on-call with other medical records staff for admissions/re-admissions.

Qualifications:

  • Certified Medical Assistant required.
  • Minimum 1  year experience in a medical office setting.
  • Experience with lab draws preferred.  
  • Chauffeur license preferred
  • Medical Coding experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with medical software and equipment.
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent computer skills, including competence in all Microsoft Office programs (word, excel, outlook, etc).
  • Strong data entry skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced organization skills 
  • Attention to detail to ensure accuracy
  • Familiarity with medical terminology
  • Computer skills to scan, organize and access electronic health records
  • Good time management skills
  • Ability to ensure confidentiality of resident records

Responsibilities:

  • Complete various medical records department functions, in accordance with established policies and procedures for the following:
  • Admissions, Discharges, and Transfers.
  • Filing and scanning of various reports, and entry of data into electronic health records.
  • Maintaining resident transportation schedules in Outlook and preparing relevant documentation for appointments.
  •  Process Monthly Orders for attending physician visits.
  • Maintain Lab Test Scheduling system, prepare lab requisitions for house draws and phlebotomists, post lab schedules, distribute lab and other diagnostic reports, and scan completed reports into electronic health records.
  •  Maintain skilled therapy, PT, OT, SLP, reports, scan into electronic health records.
  • Maintain a schedule, preparation for, completion/signature, and scanning of reports for physicians in-house visits of both attending physicians and consultant podiatry, dental, optometry, and audiology services.
  • Distribute and process miscellaneous reports, such as pharmacy notifications, and incident reports as they arrive on the Medical Records fax machine.
  • Prepare, scan, validate, and upload health records into the electronic health record system.
