Medical Laboratory Technologists serve patients and physicians in the diagnosis, management, treatment and prevention of disease by:


1. Providing clinical laboratory testing including analysis in the areas of clinical chemistry, toxicology, hematology, serology, microbiology, immunohematology, immunology, coagulation, urinalysis, etc.

2. Preparing blood for blood transfusion, manually identifies blood group, type, Rh, antibody screen, and compatibility testing.

3. Processes and analyzes samples by determining normal and abnormal components of bodily fluids by conducting analysis of blood, urine and body fluids.

Performs accurate and appropriate testing of specimens received in the laboratory, according to established laboratory protocol and procedures.

Reports test results in a timely manner and according to established laboratory protocol and procedures.

Use automated equipment and computerized instruments capable of performing a number of tests at the same time.

Discuss results and findings of laboratory tests and procedures with physicians.

Electronic order entry and final laboratory test using EMR i.e. MedHost.

4. Ensures operation of analyzers and other lab equipment by performing preventative and corrective maintenance of equipment or instruments.

Performs daily, weekly, monthly, or as needed, maintenance on instruments and equipment as appropriate.

Performs calibration of equipment as required.

Runs proficiency testing by established protocols.

Follows established procedures for laboratory quality control and reports discrepancies to the appropriate supervisor.

Performs calibration verification as needed.

5. Performs collection and pre-analytical process of biological specimens for analysis.

Collects specimens directly from patients -- such as blood, urine, saliva, etc.

Prepares specimens for examination.

Follows the Hospital Exposure Control Plans/Bloodborne and Airborne Pathogens.

Performs order entry, review and final lab results.

6. Analyzes blood cells automatically and manually by using microscopic techniques and procedures.

Prepares blood for blood transfusion, manually identifies blood group, type, Rh, antibody screen, and compatibility testing.

7. Compliance with hospital policies.

Ahere to all hospital policies, including those related to documentation, patient privacy (HIPAA), and continuing education requirements. 


Job Requirements:

Education Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Chemistry, or Medical Technology. Employer accepts foreign equivalent


Experience Requirements:

2 years of experience in job offered, Medical Laboratory Technologist, Medical Technologist, or closely related.

1. Experience preparing specimen and reagent needed

2. Experience with Clinical Chemistry

3. Experience with Blood Bank and Transfusion

4. Experience with Serology and Immunology

5. Experience with Microbiology

6. Experience with Hematology & Coagulation

7. Experience with Clinical Microscopy & Parasitology

8. Experience with Phlebotomy

9. At least 1 year of work experience in a clinical laboratory either in a hospital or commercial setting

10. Must have current certification or registration as a Medical Technologist or American Medical Technologist (AMT), or American Society of Clinical Pathologist (ASCP) or equivalent.


Salary: Available upon request 

Work Schedule: 40 hours /week
