Medical Laboratory Technician or Medical Technologist – MLT/MT
Laboratory Testing Personnel processes laboratory specimens, performs diagnostic laboratory tests and reports test results to provide data for the use in diagnosis and treatment, and prevention of disease by performing the essential duties and responsibilities.

Responsibilities
- Collects blood samples observing principles of asepsis to obtain specimens. Obtains the correct amount and type of specimen.
- Documents all requests and results of lab work accurately and in a timely manner.
- Performs tests that are authorized by the laboratory team leader that require a degree of skill commensurate with the individual's education, training or experience and technical skills.
- Follows the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of test results.
- Recognizes abnormalities and notifies appropriate health care provider or representative immediately.
- Maintains records that demonstrate proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
- Adheres to the laboratory's quality control policies, documents quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and maintenance performed.
- Follows the laboratories established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's acceptable levels of performance.
- Identifies problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either corrects the problem or notifies the supervisor.
- Documents all corrective actions when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications.
Wage
- Medical Lab Technician: $30 - $34 per hour.
- Medical Technologist: $35 - $40 per hour.
Schedule
- Full-time, 40 hours per week. Team members participate in a rotating schedule that includes both day and afternoon shifts. Weekend shifts are scheduled on average every 3-4 weeks.

Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent, required.
- Associate Degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school accredited by NAACLS, required.
- Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), National Credentialing Agency for laboratory personnel (NCA) or American Medical Technologist (AMT), required.
- Six months of experience in a laboratory environment is preferred.
Medical Technologist (MT) Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent, required.
- Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology from an accredited institution (NAACLS Certified) or Bachelor's degree with a major in biological or chemical sciences and completion of "approved laboratory experience" requirements for Medical Technologist certification as designated by the American Society of Clinical Pathologist, (ASCP), National Credentialing Agency for laboratory personnel (NCA) or American Medical Technologists (AMT), required.
- Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), National Credentialing Agency for laboratory personnel (NCA) or American Medical Technologists (AMT), required.
- Six months of experience in a laboratory environment is preferred.
