Medical Charge Entry Specialist
Large Nephrology practice seeks experienced Medical Charge Entry Specialist for its Halethorpe office. This position ensures physician billing charges are received in a timely manner and entered in the Practice Management system accurately. This person would need strong computer skills and an understanding of healthcare concepts, practices, and procedures with the ability to follow established policies and procedures of the practice.
Responsibilities and Duties:
· Obtain, review, reconcile, and process charges from various charge capture system
· Enter patient demographic information into Practice Management system as required
· Review charges for accuracy, includes date of service, procedures, levels of care, locations, diagnosis, patient identification.
· Query providers for incorrect, unclear, or incomplete charges
· Responsible for working and resolving appropriate work queues in Practice Management system
· Reconcile charges prior to month end (preferably on a weekly basis) to ensure complete capture of all charges and revenue
· Answer patient calls, route calls as needed
· Serve as a backup for charge entry
· Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
· Education
o High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required
o Certificate in Medical Billing and/or Coding, CPC or CCS
· Experience
o 2-3 years of charge entry
· Skills
o Ability to work independently

o Working knowledge of medical coding
o Ability to work with deadlines within stressful environment during month end activities
