Medical Billing Specialist

Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Medical Billing Specialist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the billing process for medical services, ensuring accuracy in coding and compliance with regulations. This role requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding systems and the ability to work collaboratively as a part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and verify patient information and insurance details to ensure accurate billing.
• Utilize coding systems such as ICD-10, ICD-9, and DRG to assign appropriate codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies and follow up on outstanding claims.
• Manage medical records and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.
• Communicate with healthcare providers, patients, and insurance representatives regarding billing inquiries and discrepancies.
• Conduct medical collections as necessary, ensuring adherence to ethical standards.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical billing practices, coding updates, and changes in regulations.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in medical billing or coding within a healthcare setting is preferred
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, coding systems (ICD-10, ICD-9), DRG, and medical records management
• Familiarity with insurance claim processes
• Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective communication skills to interact professionally with patients and healthcare professionals
• Certification in medical billing or coding is a plus, but not required
