About BROC:
At the Baton Rouge Orthopedic Clinic our goal is to provide a seamless continuum of health care services to maximize patients' outcomes and convenience. We offer an organized and coordinated continuum to provide better and timelier feedback between the patient, physician, and ancillary services provider. Our main campus is located on Bluebonnet, but we have various clinics and therapies across the state of Louisiana as well as the BROC foundation that supports local schools and athletic programs by providing services throughout various communities.
Duties:
  • This MA position is a full time position Monday through Friday. Must be available between the hours of 7:30 am and 6 pm. Schedule subject to change.
  • Greets all patients and visitors in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner.
  • Ensures the proper coordination of patient activities and documents during clinic visits.
  • Ensures that patients and related materials flow smoothly through the Clinic.
  • Escorts patient to and from the waiting area, exam rooms, imaging, and check-out as appropriate.
  • Completes physical data on each patient
  • Ensures that the patients basic needs are met while in exam rooms
  • Assists physician as requested during treatment.
  • Schedules diagnostic tests/surgeries as ordered by physician and prepares and submits paperwork to have tests/surgeries pre certified
  • Triages patients over the phone and returns and documents any messages left by patients.
  • Maintains inventory of linen, clinical, and janitorial supplies. Restocks physician workstations, exam rooms, and cast rooms.
  • Keeps all instruments, exam rooms, and casting areas clean, disinfected, and orderly at all times.
  • Schedules follow-up/return appointments for patients.
  • Scans medical record documentation into electronic patient chart.
  • Understands and follows all OSHA and HIPAA rules at all times.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned and serves in whatever other capacity deemed necessary for successful completion of the mission and goals of BROC.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Prefer technical or two year college training as a medical assistant.
Prior experience as a medical assistant is desired.
Experience with EPIC highly preferred
Good communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
Ability to learn computerized medical office work.
Ability to work independently
Ability to pass a drug screening
