Job Summary

  • The employees of the Meat Department in Ideal Market are responsible for weighing, wrapping and pricing meat for customers. In addition, meat clerks must keep the counter and work area clean and maintain all food safety standards.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

  • Meat Clerk slices deli meat, marinates and stocks the meat for display at the meat counter as needed
  • Follow approved procedures for receiving, weighing, processing and breaking down/cutting meat products
  • The safe and proper handling of meat saw, grinder and slicers, knives and other kitchen utensils and equipment
  • Rotating product within date and properly displaying it in refrigerated cases
  • Setting up displays
  • Price and display product in cases as directed by the Department Supervisor
  • Assist in wrapping and labeling product as required
  • Operating pallet jack, forklift, baler and compactor
  • Handle damaged and spoiled products according to Company Policy and assist in controlling the level of damaged goods
  • Comply fully with all Safety Policies and Procedures
  • Contribute to controlling freshness and product quality

Requirements Qualifications

  • Responsible for moving or lifting an average of 5 – 20 pounds with a maximum weight lifted of 80 pounds occasionally
  • Excellent time management
  • Organization and highly detailed oriented
  • Be a team player, goal-oriented

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • 2-3 years related experience
  • Bilingual Spanish/English
