In 1987, Marvin’s Magic launched its first professional magic made easy range within Central London. Almost 35 years later, Marvin’s Magic can be found in literally thousands of prestigious outlets in more than 65 countries worldwide. Our team of demonstrators are on-hand to help create in-store theatre and lasting memories for our customers around the world.

The Job

We are seeking a dynamic Supervisor for our team in the FAO Schwarz Flagship store. The Supervisor will play a pivotal role in leading a diverse group of demonstrators, and will be responsible for driving sales growth and ensuring the success of our demonstration teams. The primary responsibilities will include overseeing sales performance, providing leadership and guidance to our team of demonstrators, and being a voice within the senior structure of the team to develop and execute effective sales strategies. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in sales, excellent communication skills, and the ability to motivate and inspire teams.

Reporting to: Retail Development Manager

What You’ll Do

  • Supervise a team of toy demonstrators to enhance daily sales performance.
  • Schedule lunches and breaks, set targets, and motivate team members.
  • Ensure that store standards are upkept in day to day business.
  • Conduct frequent observations and assessments and provide feedback to elevate the guest experience.
  • Ensure standards are met across all demonstrations, including scripts and sales tactics, to ensure a consistent guest experience.
  • Prioritize the team's needs, making decisions aimed at optimizing their experience.
  • Engage with team members across various product lines, tailoring your leadership approach to optimize success.
  • Deliver and track Performance Improvement Plans (PIP) with focus on positivity and growth.
  • Collaborate closely with team members to foster connections and facilitate their professional development and personal advancement.
  • Ensure consistency with delivery of important communications.
  • Foster a culture of responsibility within the team by articulating clear expectations and holding the team accountable to deliverables.
  • Identify training needs and take action to provide training tools and resources.
  • Escalate employee issues and feedback to senior leadership for resolution.
  • Possess an understanding of sales targets with the ability to identify and discuss factors influencing the performance of each demonstration.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with the overall operations of the store and assist as needed.
  • Contribute to the advancement of new demonstrations within the store.
  • Serve as Marvin’s Magic liaison to the FAO Schwarz leadership team. 
  • Other ad hoc tasks as assigned.

 

What You Have

  • Minimum of 2 years leadership experience in a fast-paced premium retail, theatre/performance, or experience-based setting.
  • Outstanding communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated business acumen, utilizing commercial reporting to inform decision-making.
  • Exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Flexible availability required to align with the demands of a flagship retail environment, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft products and the ability to learn a variety of software.
