Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Project Manager to oversee ship repair and maintenance projects for both Navy and commercial vessels. The ideal candidate will act as a manager and administrator by directing, coordinating, and supervising project-related activities, ensuring strict adherence to deadlines, budgets, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as an interface and point of contact with Government project authorities and representatives on technical, project, and administrative issues.
- Manage ship repair and maintenance projects from initiation to completion, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery.
- Develop project plans, including scope, schedule, budget, and risk management strategies.
- Supervise project operations by planning and directing execution, and monitoring and reporting progress.
- Ensure compliance with U.S. Navy, Coast Guard, and commercial maritime regulations.
- Oversee financial and administrative aspects of the project to meet requirements and budget constraints.
- Monitor and track project progress, identifying and mitigating risks and delays.
- Oversee quality assurance and control processes to ensure repairs meet industry and client standards.
- Manage procurement and logistics for materials and equipment needed for repairs.
- Prepare reports and documentation on project status, financials, and performance metrics.
- Foster a culture of safety, ensuring all team members adhere to safety protocols and procedures.
- Lead and mentor project teams, ensuring clear communication and coordination.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of management and/or supervisory experience, including the overhaul, repair, alteration, and testing of Navy vessels.
- Minimum of 3 years of specialized experience in planning and managing multiple projects in a shipyard environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Project Management, or related field preferred.
- Knowledge of U.S. Navy and commercial vessel repair standards and regulatory compliance.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Experience in financial reporting, oral and written communications, interpersonal relations, and managerial techniques.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools.
- PMP certification or equivalent project management credentials preferred.
- Ability to obtain a Government facility security pass.
- Must be able to pass drug screening and work ability screening.
- Ability to travel as required.
Physical & Environmental Requirements:
- Must
be able to withstand environmental factors such as:
- Outside weather conditions
- High, precarious places
- Exposure to fumes and airborne particles
- Very loud noise levels
- Required to sit, use hands to handle, feel, and reach with hands and arms regularly.
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. and seek assistance with weights over 50 lbs.
- Occasionally
perform physical activities such as:
- Stooping, bending, squatting
- Climbing (vertical and incline ladders, mast, and kingpost)
- Crawling (through scuttles, manhole covers, tanks, and voids)
Work Environment: This role requires working in shipyard environments, office settings, and occasional onboard inspections. The Project Manager must be able to navigate industrial workspaces safely and comply with all safety regulations.
