The Lodge at Whitefish Lake, one of Montana's AAA Four Diamond resorts, is seeking Dock and Shack Attendants to work with our Marina Team.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES AND POSITION PURPOSE:
A Dock Attendant plays a key role in the operation of the Marina Department of The Lodge at Whitefish Lake. Our ideal candidate will use their experience and knowledge of marina and boating operations to maintain all vessels, equipment, and infrastructures to advance the customer experience of Lodge guests. The Marina Attendant will participate in daily operations with efficiency, integrity, patience, awareness, and compassion. They will play a large role in communication, development, and problem resolution all the while providing outstanding service to our guests along the way. They will act as an advocate for the marina, be a creator of ridiculously personal experiences, and develop relationships with guests that will compel them to return.
A Shack Attendant will be responsible for managing boat schedules, answering emails, picking up phones, cashiering, and checking in guests for boat rentals.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (DOCK ATTENDANTS):
- Maintains overall appearance and cleanliness of the vessels.
- Assists teams in boating operations.
- Records boat hours bi-weekly.
- Maintains all shipboard safety equipment and verifies it is valid, functional, and inspected as necessary.
- Repairs or replaces all operational and safety systems, as needed.
- Maintains pier and shack appearance
- Inspects vessels to ensure efficient and safe operation of vessels and equipment, and conformance to regulations.
- Steers and operates vessels, using radios, depth finders, lights, and buoys.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITES (DOCK ATTENDANTS):
- Oversees daily operations including POS, check-outs/ins, fueling, parking of boats, etc.
- Launches all vessels for customers
- Test runs and operates all vessels and systems
- Working weekends and holidays; days and nights, may be required
EDUCATION
- High school diploma preferred.
EXPERIENCE/ LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES
- Must have experience maneuvering and docking 21-foot vessels in challenging conditions
- Have good interpersonal skills and excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Knowledge of area waters, specifically in and around Whitefish Lake
- Solid understanding of the area's weather patterns
- Must be able to safely navigate waterways
- Must be able to read gauges to verify sufficient levels of hydraulic fluid, air pressure, and oxygen
SCHEDULE / HOLIDAYS/ PTO:
The Dock/Shack Attendant is expected to normally keep a set schedule, adjusted as needed according to occupancy and business needs, and be available for peak guest times. Working evenings, weekends and holidays is required, and the Dock Attendant will participate in emergency coverage with the marina team while working.
