Manager, Supply Innovation

You own end-to-end project management and commercialization of breakthrough packaging, material and supply-chain innovations plus ongoing line-extension initiatives that elevate cost, quality, sustainability and consumer experience across Rubicon’s portfolio. You steward Rubicon’s label system, apply CPG best practices and drive post-launch optimization of existing products. 

What You’ll Do 

Innovation & Line-Extension Project Management 

  • Run the stage-gate process from idea intake to post-launch review for disruptive innovations and line extensions. 

  • Apply CPG best practices for governance, artwork/change control, retailer readiness and value analysis. 

  • Develop charters, risk registers and timelines; drive on-time-in-full delivery and chair commercial-readiness reviews. 

Packaging, Label & Materials Development 

  • Source, qualify and commercialize primary & secondary packaging that enhances shelf impact, sustainability, and compliance. 

  • Own label system management—maintain dyelines, regulatory text libraries and change-control logs; coordinate artwork approvals across Marketing, Regulatory and Operations. 

  • Keep packaging specifications, BOMs and ERP master data current and audit ready. 

Post-Launch Analysis & Continuous Improvement 

  • Monitor launched SKUs for quality metrics, consumer feedback, cost and service levels. 

  • Lead cross-functional reviews to identify and implement improvements on packaging, labels, materials or processes—leveraging CPG benchmarks where relevant. 

Regulatory & Sustainability Leadership 

  • Embed CRA packaging/label rules, FVOPA Organic standards and waste-reduction goals in every innovation brief. 

  • Track ESG metrics (material recyclability, carbon footprint) and report quarterly progress. 

People & Performance Leadership 

  • Directly lead Supply Innovation Specialists and Coordinators. 

  • Provide clear goals, mentorship and professional development while fostering disciplined problem-solving and Lean thinking. 

Knowledge Management 

  • Curate a living knowledge base of materials, specifications, CPG best practices and lessons learned for cross-functional use. 

What You Bring 

  • Degree in Packaging, Mechanical/Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain or related field. 

  • 5 + years in packaging development, label management, process engineering or manufacturing improvement within cannabis, CPG or food/beverage. 

  • Demonstrated success guiding innovation and line-extension projects to commercial launch and leading post-launch optimization in a regulated environment. 

  • Deep familiarity with Canadian Cannabis Regulations, GPP/GMP principles and sustainability frameworks. 

  • Expert project management skills; comfortable translating technical details into commercial realities.
